Site Plan Includes Potential for New Dining Options
Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Marshfield residents could have more options for dining on the north end of town in the future.
According to a preliminary site plan, a 3-tenant, 6,564 square foot commercial building is planned on an undeveloped 2.75-acre property in the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. between Baltus Bread & Butter Shop and Woodfield Inn & Suites.
The Plan Commission approved this week a conditional use request to allow an outdoor dining area to be located in front of two tenant spaces which are separated by a smaller, middle tenant space. The preliminary site plan by Illinois-based JTS Architects also includes a drive-through lane around the building.
The developer has not shared information with the City on when the building would be constructed or which tenants may go in the space.
City Zoning Code requires conditional uses to be constructed within a year of approval and operational within two years, but this time requirement can be extended or waived. Since the outdoor dining request was made early in the development process, City staff would support an extension, a city memo stated.
Staff recommended approval of the conditional use request by the Plan Commission with the condition that construction and operation of the outdoor dining area begin within three years once the request has been approved by the Common Council.
