MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Spring is here and ensuring that your lawn is up to par begins when the snow clears. Provision Partners has slots open for its full, spring, summer and fall lawn care programs.
Provision helps maintain, repair, and reseed lawns using fertilization, weed control, aeration, treatments and preventative measures. A team of licensed professionals take samples of the customers’ lawn and develop a program that will work best to get it looking as healthy as possible.
Lawn care professional Todd Halvorsen coordinates programs and applies them to yards. He said the difference between a lawn that is just mowed and a lawn that is maintained through weed prevention, fertilization, correct seeding and more is the aesthetic of it.
“The nice thing about a healthy lawn is it’s thick and it’s comfortable to walk on,” Halvorsen said. “You don’t have to deal with weeds and it provides an aesthetic appeal for you and your neighbors.
“People are drawn to aesthetically pleasing things and if you have a weed-free, green lawn that somebody can come in and say, ‘Wow, I can really see my kids playing on this lawn,’ they are going to find so much more value in that than a lawn that is full of weeds or half dead because of bugs.”
Halvorsen also said keeping invasive weeds and bugs out of your lawn is an important part of the lawn maintenance process.
“There are a lot of invasive weeds in the State of Wisconsin that we want to keep control of,” Halvorsen said. “In doing basic lawn care, you’re automatically trying to control those invasive weeds. A lot of it is insect control too. Marshfield has been having big problems with the Japanese Beetle. The more lawns that we can put down a grub control layer on, the less beetles will be in that area.”
There are eight main services that Provision can bring to your lawn:
Lawn Fertilization helps to promote healthy top growth to make your lawn look attractive and also develop the deep root system that is the foundation of any beautiful lawn.
Broadleaf Weed Control application helps to control most broadleaf weeds such as dandelions, creeping Charlie, plantain and many more.
Crabgrass Preventer is an application that puts down a weed preventer which establishes a barrier at the soil surface that interrupts the germination process of the unwanted weeds. This application also contains a high Nitrogen fertilizer.
Soil Tests can be taken in order to determine the fertility of your lawn. This helps the lawn care team determine what the pH of your lawn is and the amount of soil nutrients present. This is a great tool to let workers know what applications other than weed control your lawn needs.
Lime Application is done when your soil is acidic. Provision can safely apply 50 pounds per 1,000 square feet per year. A soil test can help us determine the pH of your lawn.
Aeration allows air, water and nutrients to more readily reach the root zone by relieving compacted soil and opening up the thatch layer. It also helps to stimulate new growth, improves drainage and provides a better environment for over seeding and increases effectiveness of applied fertilizers and control products.
Over Seeding allows for worn out areas of lawn to be replaced with new stand of dense, healthy turf. Prior to over seeding, the team aerates the yard. This will promote good soil to seed contact. Second, they broadcast a starter fertilizer to promote germination. Third, the team broadcasts grass seed across the area. We usually recommend a bluegrass seed across the area. Lastly, the home owner needs to water their lawn. It’s recommended to water two times a day during the coolest times of the day.
Insecticide Treatments help control insects that can cause extensive damage to your lawn. Provision offers different kinds of insecticide to address your specific problem at different times of the year.
