MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Quality Roofing’s Dave Schug recently passed his National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) recertification, a certification he has held since 2012 with zero incidents.

The Mobile Crane Operator Written Examinations consist of a Core Examination in crane operation and up to four Specialty Examinations. The written exams required for recertification are identical to the exams required for initial certification. CCO certification is valid for five years and recertification candidates must complete all recertification requirements during the 12 months prior to their certification’s expiration date.

“It involves a lot of book knowledge,” said Schug. “We take a written test that is multiple choice and worded so that you really have to think about your answers. It separates the men from the boys.”

Currently, Schug and Kyle “Tizzy” Tisdell are NCCCO certified at Quality Roofing. Both have exemplary safety records in line with the Quality Roofing mission of safety.

“Quality Roofing is a great company to work for. We definitely emphasize safety at Quality,” said Schug. “The crane is big and can cause a lot of damage if something goes wrong.”

Though he’s seen the horror videos while undergoing recertification, Schug is proud that Quality Roofing hasn’t experienced any issues and intends to keep it that way.

“For me and Tizzy, safety is #1,” he said.
