MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A heartwarming tale unfolded at Quality Roofing this winter when a stray cat took refuge in the company’s workshop at 1507 Laemle Ave. The cat was wild and fearful, avoiding human contact. Despite efforts, no one could get close enough to catch her.
One day, an employee discovered kittens nestled in the workshop. The team kept an eye on them throughout the day to ensure the mother returned to care for them. Recognizing the dangers outside—from animals to traffic—Jamie Chapman, Financial Controller at QRI, took the lead in providing food, water, and bedding, hoping to encourage the mother cat to keep the kittens in the safety of the warehouse.
As the kittens grew, Jamie and her family developed a strong bond with them. Having recently lost their 17-year-old cat, Jamie’s two oldest children often accompanied her on weekends to care for the kittens. After a month of nurturing them, they decided the time was right to adopt two of the kittens, naming them Clover and Blackberry.
“My family fell in love with Clover and Blackberry from the start,” said Jamie. “They’ve been such a fun addition to our home.”
Another kitten found a loving home with Armando Ponce, a QRI team member, who couldn’t resist the charm of his new furry companion, which he named Ren.
“Bringing Ren home was an easy decision,” Armando said. “She’s been a joy, and I’m grateful for how this whole experience brought our team together.”
This unexpected rescue mission not only gave these kittens a second chance but also brought warmth and joy to the entire QRI team. It’s a testament to the company’s values—not just in taking care of their roofing projects but also in looking out for those in need, no matter how small or furry they may be.
The QRI team is working with a rescue to have the mama cat spayed. After that, she’ll be able to stay in the warehouse, where she’s happiest, catching mice and being well fed.
