Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union Staff Share Reasons for Participating
(OnFocus) The final day of a two-day Radiothon benefiting the Marshfield Children’s Hospital, with all proceeds staying local to serve the Marshfield community, is taking place today in the Marshfield Clinic lobby. Staff from Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU), Simplicity Credit Union, First Choice Credit Union, and a representative from Corporate Central Credit Union of Muskego manned the phones during the first hour of the event this morning.
This was MMCCU’s Tabitha Forman’s first year volunteering, and a cause she was happy to support.
“I wanted to participate because Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals attempt to make a child’s stay in the hospital more comfortable,” she said.
“Credit unions have been big supporters of Children’s Miracle Network across the country, and we are unique in that a smaller community like Marshfield has a designated children’s hospital right in our back yard,” added David Murphy, VP of Finance and Risk at MMCCU. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our credit union staff to volunteer to help keep that children’s hospital working to save the lives of the youth in Central Wisconsin.”
The CMN Radiothon is held annually to highlight the ways the Marshfield Children’s Hospital is helping children who suffer from illness or life-threatening diseases. During the call, donors have the opportunity to give donations that directly benefit the local children’s hospital.
Throughout the day, stories are shared from local miracle children and child life specialists about how the proceeds from events like the Radiothon have helped saved lives and/or make treatment possible for their younger patients. Proceeds are used to provide better access to the best equipment and technology and to advocate for additional research.
“While this is the first year we’ve had a group volunteer for the event, the Radiothon hasbeen going on for a number of years,” added Murphy. “Credit unions have worked with CMN and the Marshfield Children’s Hospital through other events, like the Share-a-Bear program and the Child Life Bash.”
