Rafters Drop Another Close Game, Swept by Chinooks

The Rafters have only collected two runs the last 25 innings

MEQUON, WI- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-20) fall by a score of 3-1 to the Lakeshore Chinooks (18-20) on a sunny evening at Kapco Park.

In the second inning, Lakeshore had three consecutive hits, two bringing home a run. The next inning, Wisconsin Rapids committed two errors which plated another runner.

Rafters starter Caden Favors (Wichita St.), bounced back in the fourth, leaving two runners aboard. The left-hander struck out four but put four on via walks, in 23 batters faced.

Zach Bennett (Central Florida) took the bump for the next three innings, allowing only one hit and two overall baserunners. The 6’5 righty earned a season-high five strikeouts.

McKinley Erves (LaGrange) who was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Game attained the only hit through the first six innings.

In the seventh, the Rafters loaded the bases with no outs. Addie Burrow (Virginia) lofted a ball to right field, a sacrifice fly, and first run. Two flyouts followed, with the Rafters parting with two on.

The final two innings only saw two Wisconsin Rapids baserunners, as they dropped their third straight game.
