Rafters Roll Past Mallards for Fourth Win in a Row

Wisconsin Rapids leads the season series 6-2 over Madison.

MADISON, WI- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (17-13) defeated the Madison Mallards (11-17) at the Warner Park Duck Pond, 8-2 on Tuesday night. The Rafters completed their second straight home and home sweep over the Mallards.

Matt Osterberg (St. Cloud State) earned the win. The southpaw pitched six innings allowing just one run and striking out a season high 11 Mallards.

The Rafters offered plenty of run support. With the game tied at one in the fourth inning the Rafters scored three runs. With two outs and the bases empty Sterling Hayes (Creighton) was hit by a pitch and Angelo D’Acunto (Holy Cross) worked a walk. Blake Mann (St. Mary’s) drove a run in with an RBI double into left field. Josh Nicoloff (Columbia) topped off the scoring with a two RBI double into left.

Wisconsin Rapids added two more runs apiece in the eighth and ninth. Elijah Dickerson (La Salle) had two hits off the bench including a two RBI double in the ninth. McKinley Erves (LaGrange) also stayed hot for the Rafters with three hits and two RBIs.

Hunter Waldis (Seton Hall) closed out the Rafters victory with two shutout innings allowing just one hit and striking out three Mallards. Rafters’ pitching staff has not allowed more than three runs in six of their last nine games played.
