Merrill (OnFocus) – The Wisconsin Rapids Girls went on the road and handled Merrill, picking up a 71-53 WVC win.
After leading at the half by a score of 36-30, Rapids built a cushion and came with the big 18 point win.
The Red Raiders picked up their intensity in the second half, capitalizing on fast break points and using a patient attack inside against Merrill’s 2-3 zone.
Megan Clary led Rapids with 20 points. Vanessa Vechinski added 19 points and Chelsea King scored 16, including four three-pointers.
Alli Martin led Rapids on defense with 5 blocks.
Claire Drew led Merrill with 19 points and Courtney Krueger added 13 points.
Rapids(6-1) remains a half game behind WVC Conference leader Wausau West (6-0)
