Marshfield (OnFocus) – An evenly matched game among two longtime rivals from the former Wisconsin Valley Conference took to the field, and when the dust settled, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln picked a 14-13 win in VFA action.
Each team had a pair of touchdowns, but it was Rapids that converted both of their extra points in deciding the game.
Marshfield scored first to take a 7-0 lead before Rapids scored twice in the second quarter. Leo Brostowitz scored on a 2 yard run and Dylan Lisitza added a four yard touchdown reception from Caden Sengbusch to give Rapids a 14-7 lead at the half.
Brostowitz led all rushers with 87 yards on 21 carries.
Lisitza had 5 catches for 34 yards.
Rapids outgained Marshfield 173 yards to 170 in the defensive battle.
Peter Rucker led Rapids on defense with 8 tackles, and Keegan Christy added 6 tackles.
Penalties hurt Marshfield, to the tune of 100 yards on 9 penalties, while Rapids was penalized twice for 12 yards.
