NECEDAH, WI (OnFocus) – The Real Freedom Races is celebrating its tenth year racing to break the chains of human trafficking. All 72 counties in Wisconsin have reported cases of modern day slavery according to the FBI and in this age of easy access to technology, amidst a crisis of mental health from the recent pandemic, this is an important topic of public safety.
The Real Freedom Races exist to not only raise awareness and educate local communities, but also provide a means for community members to make their steps count for freedom. All proceeds raised go to two Wisconsin organizations with boots on the ground serving victims: the Inner Beauty Center of Milwaukee and Zeteo Community of Dane County.
It also supports Project Rescue, our international arm that rescues women and children. This annual fundraiser event takes place at the Necedah Lions Park, 901 N Harvey Street, and offers a multitude of family-friendly activities for all ages and abilities.
Registration opens at 6:30am for our run/walk. 7:30am our Half Marathon distance begins, followed by the 5k/10k at 7:45am. This fast, flat, well-shaded out and back course is the perfect route for all abilities or your next race PR.
Awesome race swag and finisher medals are presented upon completion of your race, as well as place recognition and photo opps. Beginning at 8:00 am our local Lions Club is hosting a delicious pancake breakfast for a small fee until 11am.
Newly expanded this year, is our Art, Craft, and Vendor Family Fair with over 50 displays to help you out with your early Christmas shopping, birthday gift, or the perfect new display piece for your art collection from a variety of talented local artists, from 9:00am-4:00 pm. Table Top 21 is on site at 11:00 am until they are sold out for the best lunch in town.
Activities for the kids like face painting and yard games, music all day and a free LIVE concert from the group Awaken the Desolate at 1:00 p.m. make this a must for your weekend plans.
