MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – A series of incidents in early April 2025 has kept Marshfield police officers busy, as reports detail crimes ranging from property damage and theft to child abuse and traffic violations. Below is a summary of the most notable police activity reported during this period.
Criminal Damage to Property
On April 11, officers responded to a call reporting damage to electronics at a residence on N Hume Avenue. The complainant stated that a gaming monitor and a PlayStation 5 were deliberately damaged. A 21-year-old female later admitted to the destruction. She was arrested, booked, and released. Charges have been referred to the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.
Obstruction of Justice
That same day, police conducted a traffic stop during which a 21-year-old man initially provided a false identity. Once his real name was discovered, he was arrested for obstruction and cited for operating without a license. He was booked, released, and posted bond.
In a separate incident on April 13, a 22-year-old male was also arrested for giving a false name during a routine traffic stop. He was later released after posting bond, with charges forwarded to the district attorney.
Retail Theft
A theft investigation at Walmart revealed that an employee had been stealing from the cash register. The employee admitted to taking a total of $440 over multiple occasions. Loss prevention officers documented the case, and charges were sent to the district attorney for review.
Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and Resisting Arrest
Police arrested a 43-year-old man after receiving a report of suspected drunk driving. Officers located the vehicle parked at a Kwik Trip and observed an open container. The man failed a sobriety test and refused to continue testing. He was arrested for OWI (4th offense) and for resisting an officer. A legal blood draw was conducted, and charges are pending.
Restraining Order Violation
On April 8, officers were informed of a possible restraining order violation involving a 69-year-old man. Evidence was collected, and a report was forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Traffic Stop Drug Arrest
During a traffic stop on April 12 officers discovered a potential bail condition violation involving a controlled substance. A K9 unit was deployed and alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. The suspect was referred for misdemeanor bail jumping charges.
Child Welfare Cases
In separate incidents, Marshfield police responded to concerns involving child welfare.
On March 6, a 22-year-old man reported an incident of child abuse. A video of the incident was obtained, and the mother involved admitted to the abuse. Charges were filed.
On April 13, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call. At the scene, they found the living conditions for two children (ages 11 and 7) to be severely neglectful. Child protective services were contacted, and the children were placed in the care of a grandparent.
The Marshfield Police Department continues to investigate these incidents, with several cases pending further legal action. Local authorities encourage residents to report suspicious activity and support efforts to maintain public safety throughout the community.
