For OnFocus – On Tuesday, September 8th 2020, at about 4:25 p.m., the Greenwood Police Department, along with the Clark County Sheriffs Office responded to a report of a attempted child abduction in the City of Greenwood. With the assistance of the Clark County Sheriffs Office, through investigation, we viewed footage from multiple surveillance cameras and interviewed residents within a two block radius.
We also fielded multiple leads from the public. Through the above actions we located a witness who was in the immediate area at the time of this incident. This witness was driving a vehicle and wearing clothes that closely matched the victim’s description. The witness recalls seeing the victim walking down the street and glancing back.
The witness quickly ran into a local business to pick up an item, and then ran back to their vehicle. As the witness was leaving the area, they saw the victim running down the street. This witness did not see any other vehicles or persons in the immediate area. Based on the current information, it appears this may have been a misunderstanding. However, we will continue to follow up on possible leads as they come in.
We would like to commend the victim for being aware of her surroundings, and vigilance for her own safety. I would like to urge the public to follow her example in being observant of their surroundings. If you see something, say something. Please report any suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency.
