Regis Football’s Evrett Tait Voted OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 29 – October 5
Voters came out in big numbers to support outstanding performances by area performers, and when the dust settles, it was Regis Football’s Evrett Tait that earned the title of OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 29 – October 5, with an impressive 538 votes.
Second place went to Medford Football’s Paxton Rothmeier, who picked up 330 votes. Talia Schlindwein of Wausau East/West Girls Golf was third with 220 votes.
Fourth place was earned by Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Girls Golf Standout Sydney Holberg with 141 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 29 – October 5
- Sydney Holberg, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Girls Tennis – Wisconsin Rapids tied for the WVC Girls Tennis Championship after taking first at the WVC Meet. Leading the way for the Raiders was Holberg at #3 singles, taking the championship. Holberg raced to the title with relative ease, winning 6-1, 6-0 in the Semifinals and 6-0, 6-1 in the championship.
- Paxton Rothmeier, Medford Football – Rothmeier picked up 4 rushing touchdowns and added a fumble return for touchdown in Medford’s 38-7 win over Tomahawk.
- Evrett Tait, Regis Football – Tait had three rushing touchdowns, one receiving as Regis took over sole possession of first place in the Cloverbelt with a 35-25 win over previously unbeaten Stanley-Boyd.
- Talia Schlindwein Wausau East/West Girls Golf – The senior shot an 88, two strokes off first, at the Division 1 regional at De Pere and advanced to sectional play.
- Johnny Matthews, Stevens Point Football(nominated online) – Mathews rushed for 222 yards, gaining rushing and receiving touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a 35-14 win over Eau Claire North on Friday.
