Rocket News – The 2019 Spencer District Spelling Bee took place on Tuesday, January 15. The top six spellers from each of the grades fifth through eighth were gathered to compete. It lasted 13 rounds before all was said and done! In the end, a familiar face emerged victorious once again.

Nathan Kieffer, a seventh-grade student, won the event by correctly spelling the word balsam. Abigail Cherek, an eighth-grade student, was the runner-up. Nathan and Abby will both attend the CESA 10 Regional Spelling Bee in Thorp on January 30th where Nathan will compete. The top four contestants in that event will advance to the Badger Bee, Wisconsin’s state event in March.
