GREEN BAY, WI (OnFocus) – Earlier reports that Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers had reached a long-term extension are being refuted by Rodgers himself.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pat McAfee reported that Rodgers would be returning to the Green Bay Packers for the foreseeable future. He did not report on the amount or length of the contract that had been worked on by Rodgers, his agent and the Packer front office.
BREAKING: According to my sources.. @AaronRodgers12 will officially be returning to the Green Bay Packers.
There is no deal in place currently but there is said to be a Cap Friendly deal on the way.
Retirement was a real consideration & in the end

An additional report came from NFL.com and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport indicating that Rodgers had agreed to a four-year, $200 million extension that made him the highest-paid player in the NFL.
The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come. 💰 💰 💰

A short time after, Pat McAfee took to Twitter to report that according to Rodgers himself, a deal was not in place but he had agreed to return to the Packers.
News of a “4 year $200,000,000 Million deal” is not accurate… according to my sources 🤷🏼♂️

Later Tuesday afternoon, Rodgers went on Twitter to confirm that he had in fact not signed an extension at this time but intends to be with the Packers.
Hey everyone, just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the @packers next year, however, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I “signed”. I’m very excited to be back 💪🏼 #year18❤️

Now, it appears the Green Bay Packers and Rodgers will look to come to an agreement that will give the Packers some clarity and flexibility with their salary cap situation. According to Spotrac, the Packers are well over the cap heading into free agency and the rest of the offseason.
Alternatively, Rodgers has a year left on his remaining deal so he could play another year and keep his options open for next season.
