MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield’s annual Rotary Winter Wonderland holiday lights display, which raises funds and collects items for food pantries throughout Central Wisconsin, will continue the tradition in its 17th year.

“We are pleased to report that our light display is shaping up well ahead of schedule,” said Al Nystrom, RWW Co-Chair. “We had a huge lift on our opening weekend from Edgar High School, who brought a bus load of 50 students to launch our build out. We also invited businesses to send us groups of employees during the work week. We think that engaging businesses in the build out (and hopefully take down) is the best way to keep this project going for future generations.”

Nystrom added that the group continues to receive tremendous support from the Boy Scouts, High Schools and local youth groups.

“We could not be more grateful to all those who help us create this holiday magic. We’ll have well over 1,000 volunteers from start to finish this season,” he said.

Estimating two more weeks to finish set-up and fine-tune displays, Nystrom said that anyone interested in helping can join them on Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 12:00. If you or your group would like to be involved, please contact Rotary Winter Wonderland at [email protected]. No special skills are required.

Everyone in the community can assist simply by visiting the display and donating. Since its origins, Rotary Winter Wonderland has collected nearly 782,000 items for 30 local food pantries.

Rotarians are hopeful that this year will mark another successful year of fundraising for and supporting local food pantries.
