OnFocus – Port Edwards man John Sarver has been formally charged in Wood County Circuit Court with First Degree Murder, a Class A Felony. Sarver is accused of the 1984 murder of Eleanore Roberts, a 73 year-old Town of Saratoga woman.
According to the criminal complaint, Sarver knew Roberts from fixing her lawn mower in September 1984 and returned to rob her on November 26, 1984. She surprised him by being home, at which time he brutally attacked and murdered her.
The case was cold until an arrest was made yesterday. Bond has been set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing and arraignment is set for September 14.
