Scam warning issued to Super Bowl fans as resale ticket demand skyrockets 156% – “Steer clear of this type of transaction”

Folks in Louisiana, whether it be Kansas City Chiefs fans or Philadelphia Eagles fans, are expected to sacrifice almost two months’ salary to attend the Super Bowl this weekend if they wanted to score last minute resale tickets.

The findings from sports betting experts at Props.com analyzed the average monthly salary in Louisiana, which was set to be $4,357 against the current median resale ticket price for a single ticket to the Super Bowl this weekend, which was $7,157.

This means, that the average Louisianan would be expected to fork out one and a half months of their average wage to secure a single ticket to this weekend’s game, hosted at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.

Last minute searches in Louisiana for ‘Super Bowl tickets’ have increased by 156% from this time last month, peaking this week as many look to score a last minute deal.

However, Scott Krones from Props.com shared a warning on this last-minute rush, stating: “Last minute tickets to one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar are always going to be tempting, whether you’re from Louisiana or further afield.

That being said, with prices being so high, this means that ticket scams can become rife and it’s crucial that Louisianans and Super Bowl fans stay vigilant this weekend, when presented with a lower priced ticket offer.

If the ticket price is too good to be true, it probably is. Scammers will likely try to entice Super Bowl fans this weekend with shockingly low-priced tickets, but it’s important that anyone faced with this situation verifies the URL that the seller is contacting them from. If there is a sketchy looking link, if you don’t recognise the platform or the seller is being particularly pushy, steer clear of this transaction.

The price for resale tickets means that many will have to decide whether they are worth spending a large amount of money on, and should you decide to attend the game, it’s important that you do as much research as you can and purchase them through a well-known and verified seller.”
