Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Marshfield School Forest lodge remodel is set to begin Dec. 2 with completion scheduled for Feb. 7.

The project is still accepting donations toward furnishing the 60 year-old building with new furniture and kitchen appliances, said Mark Zee, Marshfield School Forest Director.

The $140,000 fundraising goal to move ahead with the remodel was reached earlier this year thanks to proceeds from two logging projects in 2015 and 2018 that were part of a forest management plan, plus donations from businesses, organizations, and community members.

First built in 1958, the lodge will undergo renovations for a classroom, kitchen, and overnight accommodations. There will be a handicap accessible bathroom and the electric and plumbing systems will be upgraded. The Marshfield Area Ski Touring Foundation will also have unlimited access to a wing for trail fee collection and registration.

Nikolai Construction is completing the project.

While remodeling is taking place, the lodge will be closed. However, all of the ski trails will be groomed and accessible this season, said Zee. Those wishing to make a contribution to the project to fund aspects of the project which were of lower priority can email Mark Zee at [email protected] or call 715-305-9257.
