Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Local elementary schools are learning more about Marshfield’s past with student tours at the historic Upham Mansion, home of Wisconson’s Governor William Upham.
Washington Elementary was the first of the groups to pass through the mansion on Tuesday. In addition to touring the home, students were able to identify an earlier version of their school, practice cursive writing using a quill pen and ink, sample homemade butter, and hand-grind coffee beans.
The tours come during Historic Preservation Month this May. Local history groups are putting on free programs throughout the month. Schoolchildren will also attend the cemetery tours to watch figures from history come to life to tell their stories.
