Man In Custody after Attempting to Strike an Officer
(Marshfield, WI) On Wednesday, April 27th at approximately 3:11 PM the Marshfield Police Department responded to 1407 N. Peach Ave for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Officers learned that earlier in the day another incident occurred outside the Marshfield city limits with the same individuals. Officers attempted to contact a 35-year-old Marshfield man who resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody and attempted to strike an officer.
The 35-year-old man retreated into his residence in the 1200 block N. Peach Ave and barricaded himself. The Marshfield Special Response Team responded to the incident. The department deployed a “flash-bang” a distraction device on the exterior of the residence to attempt to gain compliance. The man was eventually taken into custody on 4/28/2022 at approximately 12:11 AM.
The man was ultimately transported to the Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for battery and disorderly conduct (domestic-related), strangulation, battery to law enforcement, and resisting arrest.
Assisting in the incident was Wood County Sherriff’s Department, The Marshfield Fire Department, and The Marshfield Street Department for their assistance and aiding in this peaceful resolution.
