The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Weather Alert for Marathon County:
Strong thunderstorms are heading for western Wood and western Marathon counties until 2:45 p.m. Thursday. At 1:37 p.m., doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Thorp to near Fairchild to near Black River Falls. Movement was east at 20 MPH.
Wind gusts in excess of 40 mph, hail and heavy downpours will be possible with these storms. Strong thunderstorms will be near Abbotsford, Colby, Spencer, Marshfield, and Lindsey around 2:45 p.m. Other location impacted by these storms include Bakerville, Milan, Cherokee, Unity, March Rapids, Scranton and Nasonville.
Severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. for Central Wisconsin.
