Shiocton Gets Past Iola-Scandinavia in CWC Softball Matchup

Shiocton rallied with one run in the sixth inning and the go ahead run in the seventh inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit to beat Iola-Scandinavia, 2-1, in a CWC-East conference game on Tuesday, April 22.  The loss drops the Thunderbirds conference record to 1-3 and overall record to 5-4.  Shiocton is 1-0 in conference and 1-2 overall.
Eila Griesbach had three hits for Shiocton including a single in the seventh inning that scored the winning run.  Abby Presteen had two hits for the Chiefs.  Morgan Oskey’s sacrifice fly scored Abby Young on a close play at home to tie the game, 1-1, in the sixth inning.
The T-Birds manage only two hits in the game.  Ava Printz one of those hits and drove in the lone run on a groundout.  Libby Maus had the other hit for the Thunderbirds.
Pitcher Abby Presteen went the distance to earn the win for Shiocton.  Presteen allowed two walks and had five strikeouts.  Rayanne Clendenning pitched all seven inning in taking the loss.  Clendenning allowed two walks and had six strikeouts.
