MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to a reported silo fire Friday evening, March 28, 2025, at Forte Opening Solutions, located at 1401 East 4th Street. The incident occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. and involved smoke and smoldering material inside a manufacturing silo.
Engine 3, Engine 1, Truck 1, and Ambulance 98 were dispatched to the scene with a total of nine personnel. Upon arrival, all employees had already evacuated the facility safely. Maintenance staff reported that an overheated bearing had caused nearby manufacturing materials atop the silo to ignite.
Fire crews utilized the aerial device on Truck 1 to access the top of the silo. Upon entry, multiple hotspots were identified within the silo and an auger system. Firefighters deployed water from Truck 1, along with the facility’s built-in deluge system, to extinguish the hotspots and prevent any further spread.
The fire was successfully contained to the materials used in the manufacturing process. No injuries were reported, and crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to ensure the situation was fully under control.
Forte Opening Solutions, a local manufacturing facility, did not report any damage beyond the affected production material. There were no special hazards or circumstances beyond the initial fire response.
The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department commended the swift evacuation by facility staff and the coordinated response that helped prevent more serious damage.
