GENERAL RECORDS

  • Simone Biles significantly climbed up in the overall rankings of the female gold medalists in gymnastics at the Olympics – prior to the 2024 Olympics, she was sharing the 7th place with 3 other gymnasts (for winning 4 gold medals), and now she is in a joint 2nd place (tying Věra Čáslavská) with 7 gold medals after winning gold 3 times in Paris (team all-around, individual all-around & vault)

  • Biles is now in 2nd place for the total amount of medals won (gold, silver, bronze) in women’s gymnastics events – 11 medals (7 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze) – Biles tied Věra Čáslavská, who also won 11 medals at the Olympics

  • Simone Biles extended her record for the most awarded American gymnast at the Olympics with 11 medals (the closest to Biles is Shannon Miller with 7 medals won – after the 2024 Olympics, Biles broke out of the tie with Miller for the most overall medals won at the Olympics by an American athlete)

  • Simone Biles joined an elite group of 29 athletes who have won more than 10 medals at the summer or winter Olympics during their careers – with 11 medals, Biles is now also in the top 6 of the American women with the most Olympic medals won, joining swimmers Katie Ledecky, Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres, Natalie Coughlin and the track and field athlete Alysson Felix

INDIVIDUAL ALL-AROUND ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS EVENT

  • Simone Biles broke the record of Larisa Latynina and Věra Čáslavská for the longest gap between gold medals in Individual all-around artistic gymnastics event at the Olympics – both Latynina and Čáslavská won in consecutive Olympic games 4 years apart, while Biles won 8 years after winning her first gold medal in Rio (having said that, Biles now also holds the record regardless of gender, because no male gymnast has ever won a gold medal in the Individual all-around artistic gymnastics event 8 years after his first win, only consecutively)

  • Simone Biles is now one of only 3 female gymnasts to win the Individual all-around artistic gymnastics gold medal at the Olympics two times

  • Simone Biles became the first American athlete (male or female) to win two gold medals for Individual all-around event

  • Simone Biles’ victory in the Individual all-around artistic gymnastics event helped to break the tie between the United States and the former Soviet Union, and the USA are now the sole holder of the record for the most gold medals in the female Individual all-around artistic gymnastics event at the Olympics with 7 gold medals

VAULT GYMNASTICS EVENT

  • Simone Biles tied Věra Čáslavská for the most gold medals in the women’s vault event at the Olympics (2 gold medals)
