Six-run seventh pushes Marshfield baseball past D.C. Everest

WESTON – Marshfield scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn an 11-6 win over D.C. Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers trailed 6-5 after D.C. Everest scored six runs in the fifth inning.

Marshfield tied it on an RBI single by Ryan Krueger, then poured it on, scoring five times with two outs.

Ben Gust had a two-run single and Isaiah Baierl followed with a three-run home run to put the Tigers on top by five.

Preston Wagner pitched the final 2 2/3 innings without giving up a run to earn the win on the mound for Marshfield.

Riley Boushack had three hits, and Brant Bohman, Mason Coffren, Baierl and Gust each had two for the Tigers, who had 15 hits in all.

Isaac Meverden also had two RBIs in the win.

Marshfield (14-11 overall) finishes its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at 8-4 and in third place in the final standings.

Marshfield wraps up its regular-season schedule Friday at home against Eau Claire North before hosting a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal game Tuesday against Hudson.
