Soup or Socks Collecting Winter Clothes
Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) With snow possible this weekend, Soup or Socks is addressing a need for winter clothes for the children it serves.
The food pantry and clothes closet is asking for donations of warm winter boots (no fashion boots) and snow pants. Gently used items are accepted, but should be clean. The highest need is for sizes 6 and up for snow pants.
“Even some adult sizes would be helpful, since some kids wear adult sizes,” said Cheryl Lewis Hartl, director.
Soup or Socks could also use sweatpants in adult sizes small through 2XL, plus warm winter tops in all sizes.
“These things are important since they are needed for kids to be able to go outside during recess at school. Kids who walk to school need to be dressed warm,” said Lewis Hartl. “We are also aware of families that, as the weather gets cooler, they are reluctant to turn their heat up because of the cost. If they have warm clothing to wear inside, that helps them as well.”
In addition to winter clothing, Soup or Socks is also out of various food items. Currently, it could use more canned mixed vegetables, noodle mixes, pork or baked beans, canned fruit, and canned meat.
This weekend as early as Friday night, rain is expected to turn to a snow mix but would take awhile to accumulate on the ground due to warm soil temperatures.
