SPASH Girls Soccer Drops Season Opener to La Cross Central
SPASH opened its season with a 4-0 loss to visiting La Crosse Central on Saturday morning at Goerke Field. Central scored three goals in the first twenty minutes of the match – including two by Grace Wilkerson – on their first three shots of the game.
Despite the score, SPASH outshot Central 8-6. SPASH goalkeeper Sophia Smith made two saves and Laura Lapp made 8 saves for La Crosse Central.
“The opening twenty minutes were rough, for sure. I think the first game jitters got the best of us and we dug ourselves into an early hole. Credit Central for being clinical with their scoring chances. Once we settled down, we played good soccer. We made additional adjustments at halftime that allowed us to carry the play in the second half and we created several scoring opportunities. We got better as the game wore on and I’m proud of our effort.”
SPASH will be back in action next Tuesday, April 8, when they host Green Bay Preble at 7:30pm at Goerke Field.
