SPASH Opens WVC Soccer with Win at Merrill

SPASH opened WVC play with a 4-0 victory at Merrill. The Panthers opened the scoring at the 7:22 mark on a goal from Sivan Dinga, assisted by Eli Chang. Chang converted a penalty kick less than ten minutes later for a 2-0 lead. Chang would strike again in the second half at 66:50 on an assist from Tyler Falkavage.
The final goal came from Evan Hackbarth at 76:36 and was unassisted. SPASH goalkeeper Alex Weisgram did not have to make a save and the Panthers outshot Merrill 28-1. SPASH is now 1-0 in conference play and 2-2 overall.
“Merrill packed in the defending half which made creating quality scoring chances difficult. We need to learn to recognize how to more effectively attack teams who play that way,” shared SPASH Head Coach Bill Loss. “Credit the entire team for our ability to maintain possession throughout the match.”
