SPASH SOFTBALL WALKS OFF HORTONVILLE

SPORTSDESK – Saturday afternoon softball at Woyak Park in Plover saw the SPASH Panthers electrify their already exciting season. It was Junior, Jaden Jones, with a single to left field in the bottom of the 7th to walk off Hortonville 4-3.

Hortonville scored three runs in the top of the third off of Panther starting pitcher, Kristen Richter, chasing her out of the circle after 2 2/3 inning pitched. The Panther offense responded from their with one run in the 3rd and two in the 6th to tie the game at 3-3.

The Panthers got a Kayla Lass to Berkley Lake 5-3 double play in the top of the 7th before Jaden Jones, on in relief duty, induced a pop fly to right fielder Maddie Kvatek to end the Polars 7th. Megan Miklesh then led off the Panther bottom of the 7th with a double. Sammy Saloun bunted Miklesh to third, bringing Jones to the plate with just one out. Jones stood in the box and drove a one ball, two strike pitch to left field, scoring Miklesh and completing the come from behind victory for her Panthers.

Leah Earnest went 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Jaden Jones and Megan Miklesh each went 2-4 each with a run scored, Jones added an RBI on the game winning hit.

The Panthers are now 7-2 on the year. Next game is scheduled for Monday, April 22 at Woyak Field vs Wausau East with first pitch at 4:30pm.
