Spencer, WI – December 14, 2023 – The Spencer Area Fire Department responded to a grass fire near the Spencer School District shortly after 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 14th. The fire is located just East of the football field. No students or staff are located near the fire. Spencer Police Department during school dismissal were located near the perimeter.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a large grass fire burning near Hayward Road and School Street. The fire was quickly spreading, and crews are working to contain the flames and prevent them from reaching nearby buildings on the football field.
The incident command was established on Hayward Road near School Street, just north of the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
