Spencer Baseball Opens Season with NC Win over Athens
Spencer baseball (1-0) traveled to Athens Monday night for their first non-conference game of the season, and secured their first victory by a score of 8-4.
Reed Knecht was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings, giving up 2 hits, while striking out 6 Weston Nieman and Ayden Doro pitched the final 3 innings in relief to close out the victory.
Offensively the Rockets were lead by Kayden Diestche who went 2-3 with a triple and a walk, driving in 2 runs, and scoring once. Dalton Post went 1-3 with 3 RBIs and Carter Luepke also drove in 2 runs while going 1-4.
Spencer travels to Auburndale on Thursday and Nekoosa on Friday.
