Spencer/Columbus Win Big at Stanley-Boyd

The Spencer/Columbus Catholic Rockets got back to .500 on the season with a 47-14 win over Stanley-Boyd.

Spencer scored on their first drive taking up over half of the first quarter before Austin Bacon ran it in for a 5 yard TD. Then after a 3 and out by Stanley-Boyd and a very short punt set SC up in good field position Eden Jacobson punched it in from 2 yards out.

Early in the second quarter, Bacon would get his own 2 yard run to make it 22-0. But Stanley-Boyd would come right back after initial bobbling the kickoff Ty McDonald would return the kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown to cut the lead to 22-7 and that would be the our halftime score.

Early in the third quarter Jacobsen would run the ball in from 2 yards out, then not to be outdone on 2 yard TD runs, Bacon would get another one. And on a theme for the night after a long run by Stanley-Boyd’s Brady Potaczek, Carson Hause ran it in from 2 yards out to bring the score to 34-14.

Then late in the fourth, Gage Stratman would complete a 4 yard TD pass to Will Schlafke. Then on Stanley-Boyd’s next possession Brett Kasch would intercept a pass and return it for a touchdown to close out the scoring.

Spencer doing most of their damage on the ground, running the ball 67 times for 291 yards, Bacon and Jacobson both with 121 yards, Bacon on 29 carries, Jacobson on 31 carries.
