Rocket News – The University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point sponsors three STEM (Science, Engineering, Math, and Technology) events for junior high students each year. Sponsored by the Spencer Science Club, four girls from Spencer Middle School attended a day designed for girls to explore STEM careers on Friday, February 23.
This one-day conference is designed to get them fired up and excited about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The event showcased STEM career professionals from throughout Wisconsin and faculty from UW-System. The girls engaged in hands-on workshops that included activities like building Lego cars, practicing CPR, and gathering and analyzing their own exercise data. The girls also learned about the many career paths available with an education in STEM.
