Spencer rolls over Owen-Withee in Cloverbelt doubleheader

SPORTSDESK – The first place Spencer Rockets invited the Owen-Withee Blackhawks to town on Tuesday night and then blasted them back out of town with a combined 15-0 double header performance.

In the first game of the double feature, Rockets’ shortstop and leadoff hitter Sadie Mercier went 4-4 and scored 4 runs.

Starting pitcher, Tiffany Meinders, went 3-4 with 3 RBI. Meinders also pitched four complete innnings, striking out 8, allowing no runs and only giving up one hit. Cloe Drews pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit and allowing the Rockets to end the game an inning early with a 10-0 win.

Game number two saw Rocket pitcher Tiffany Meinders back in the circle and again dominated the Blackhawk bats. Meinders again pitched four complete, giving up two hits and striking out five.

Freshman Paige Bauer impressed during the second game, going 4-4 with a RBI in a 5-0 win. Rockets coach Laschel Canfield, “Also want to note the kids that are really starting to step up, Paige Bauer getting on base 4 times in 4 attempts just outstanding, really stepping up as a Freshman.” Senior, Lexi Baehr, finished the game in the circle with three strikeouts to preserve the shutout.
