Voters turned out in huge numbers for the OnFocus Athlete of the Week, January 31 – February 6.
With over 1400 votes cast, the winning athlete was Treyton Ackman of Spencer. Ackman earned another trip to the State Wrestling Tournament, and support for the Rockets’ senior was outstanding. Ackman collected 535 votes to win the title.
Coming in second was Gavin Draxler of Stratford, also earning a trip to the state wrestling tournament. Draxler picked up 374 votes.
Third place went to Marshfield’s Kyles Berres, Sander Marty, Ethan Dagit, and Myles Jensen, with 271 votes.
4th place went to Giorgi Schmutzer, who garnered 177 votes.

OnFocus Athlete of the Week Nominees, January 31 – February 6
- Kyle Berres / Sander Marty / Ethan Dagit / Myles Jensen, Marshfield Boys Swimming – The Tiger foursome broke the school record in the 200 Yard Freestyle for the second time in two weeks. Following their record-breaking time of 1:33.27 at sectionals, the four Tigers set a new school record at the WIAA State Meet with a time of 1:31.74.
- Gavin Draxler, Stratford Boys Wrestling – The Stratford junior zoomed through the competition at sectionals, earning a berth at the WIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament. Draxler advanced to the sectional finals with pins in the first and second period, and then punched his ticket to state with a 14-1 win.
- Giorgi Schmutzer / Terrance Roberson, Auburndale Girls/Boys Basketball – The Eagles’ duo came up big for Auburndale in wins this week, connecting from long range. Schmutzer had 23 points and drained six three-pointers in Auburndale’s 75-35 win over Newman Catholic. Roberson had 17 points and made 5 of 8 three-pointers in Auburndale’s 75-41 win over Prentice.
- Cade Faber, Abbotsford Boys Basketball – Faber joined the 1000 career points mark in Abbotsford’s 59-54 win over Prentice. Needing 7 points to hit the century mark, Faber had 5 points in the first half before reaching 1000 with an alley oop dunk.
- Treyton Ackman, Spencer/Columbus Wrestling – Ackman advanced to the sectional final with 11-4 and 18-1 decisions. The 113 pounder then earned a berth to state with a hard-fought 3-0 win in the finals.
