Spencer (OnFocus) – Voting for the OnFocus Athlete of the Week, June 6 – June 12 saw voters turn out in big fashion to support the winner, Leah Zastrow of Spencer Girls Track. Zastrow collected 160 votes to win the title.
Caden Healy of Colby Boys Track took second with 80 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week Nominees, June 6 – June 12
- Caden Healy, Colby Boys Track – Healy claimed three titles at the Cloverbelt Conference Track Meet, finishing first in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and Long Jump.
- Danni Langseth, DC Everest Girls Track – Langseth picked up two titles at the WVC Conference Track Meet, winning the shot put and discuss. Langseth didn’t just defeat the competition, however. Her throw of 44′ 9.5″ was over 9 feet further than her nearest competitor. Langseth’s throw of 167 feet in the discus was 45 feet better than second place.
- Peter Rucker, Wisconsin Rapids Boys Track (nominated online) – Rucker took first in the Triple Jump at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Track Meet, setting a personal record with a leap of 45’2″.
- Savannah Schley, Loyal Girls Track – Schley took first in the 400,800 M and 3200 M Runs at the Cloverbelt Eastern Conference Track Meet.
- Leah Zastrow, Spencer Girls Track – Zastrow picked up a pair of titles at the Cloverbelt Conference (East) Track Meet, winning titles in the 100 Meter Hurdles and Pole Vault. Zastrow was most impressive in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10’7″, besting her nearest competitor by over two feet.
