Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) St. Vincent de Paul Outeach is distributing 1,500 dozen eggs from a local chicken farmer on Friday that would otherwise have gone to waste.
“We met with a local chicken farmer who has been greatly impacted by the COVID pandemic with many of his clientele being unable to purchase the same quantity as they did previously,” Outreach stated on its Facebook page.
The farmer had nowhere to take the eggs and was resorting to feeding them to his cattle and dumping the rest in his field.
“We wanted to help, so here we are with 1,500 dozen eggs!” Outreach stated.
The organization was distributing the eggs from 8-4 p.m. at its location on Friday and asked those who took eggs to bring their own eggs cartons and take as many as they would like. Any donations would go directly to the farmer.
“And lastly, if you are having trouble and are in need of food, please do not hesitate to come to the Outreach,” the organization said.
