EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — The enchanting world of lighted drones will take center stage at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024, as Starlight Aerial Productions presents their stunning aerial displays during the night air shows on July 24 and 27. This year’s event, marking the 71st edition of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s fly-in convention, will be held at Wittman Regional Airport from July 22-28.
Audiences will be treated to mesmerizing performances by up to 500 state-of-the-art drones, showcasing dazzling light displays and captivating illustrations. These performances are set to be a highlight of AirVenture’s renowned night air shows.
“Drone shows have emerged as a marvelous way to add technology, color, and entertainment to nighttime events and for us, it’s a perfect complement to the skill and excitement brought to the legendary Oshkosh night air shows by our aerobatic pilots and aircraft,” said Rick Larsen, EAA’s vice president of communities and member programs. “This addition will make the night show even more memorable in 2024.”
Starlight Aerial Productions, based in Michigan, recently wowed audiences with a 400-drone show over Detroit, celebrating the NFL Detroit Lions’ appearance in the NFC Championship Game. The upcoming Oshkosh performance will feature American-made Lumenier ARORA drones, which are equipped with LED lights capable of creating over 4 billion color combinations. The drones will execute animated sequences in perfect synchronization with a musical score.
Great Lakes Drone Company, Starlight’s parent company, made its debut at Oshkosh in 2018 with a preview of the then-emerging drone technology. Since then, drone shows have advanced significantly, now able to manage hundreds of drones efficiently and create intricate formations.
“Today’s drone shows are pushing the boundaries of aerial entertainment and creating moments that leave an indelible mark on the heart and mind,” said Matt Quinn, CEO of Great Lakes Drone Company. “The Oshkosh shows will celebrate human ingenuity as a testament to the unyielding spirit of exploration that aviation embodies.”
Further details about Starlight’s drone shows at EAA AirVenture will be announced as they become available.
