Citizen Reports Stolen Handgun on Sunday
Spencer (OnFocus) Spencer Police Department has had an active week outside of maintaining public health.
- Sunday morning, March 29th, a citizen reported that their vehicle had been ransacked overnight and a handgun was stolen from their vehicle.
- Sunday, March 29th, a citizen reported seeing a suspicious person on the premises digging through dumpsters. Officers located the person operating a vehicle that was entered as stolen out of Minnesota. The driver was stopped, arrested, and booked into jail on an active arrest warrant with charges of Operate Motor Vehicle W/O Owner’s Consent, Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructing an Officer, and Operating After Revocation.
- Tuesday, March 31st, Officers, with assistance from the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at a residence within the Village of Spencer.
During the course of the search, officers located a large quantity of methamphetamine along with numerous items consistent with packaging and distributing methamphetamine, and multiple items of paraphernalia. Officers also recovered the handgun at this residence that had been reported as stolen two days prior.
Occupants of the residence were booked into jail with charges including Possess w/Intent-Amphetamine (>50g), Possess Narcotic Drugs, Maintain Drug Trafficking Place, and Receiving Stolen Property.
