Stoney River Marshfield is hosting a Tractor Trick-or-Treat for the public at 4pm on Halloween

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield area community members of all ages are invited to gear up for a unique Halloween experience at Stoney River Marshfield’s “Tractor Trick-or-Treat” on Monday, October 31, at 4pm at the assisted living community, located at 1204 McMillan Street, Marshfield, WI.

“We look forward to doing something different this Halloween!” said Stoney River’s Lifestyle Specialist, Meranda Lelonek, who helped organize Stoney River’s new spin on trick-or treating that features restored vintage tractors which resonate with many Stoney River residents and locals who have farming in their blood.

A professional photographer will be at the Tractor Trick-or Treat to snap photos and preserve memories of the intergenerational, family event hosted by Stoney River free to the public. “It is everything our residents value, ‘family and coming together,’” said Stoney River Executive Director Sarah Krenn. “The tractors and candy will attract the trick-or-treaters as well as their parents and grandparents with something for everyone.”

The farm-equipment themed Halloween event celebrates Marshfield’s farming history, the people who raised their families in the area and today’s local families.

Stoney River’s Memory Support Manager, Lizz Richards, LPN, recounted a high-speed tractor story told by one of her residents.

“Ray proudly shared how he put a 1950’s Cadillac engine in his tractor and would fly down the highway at 50 miles per hour!” she said.

The tractors are being supplied courtesy of local farmers and farm equipment hobbyists, including Stoney River’s very own team members including, Mandy Ruff. Ruff’s restoration story spans three generations and features a John Deere 50 that was purchased by her husband’s grandfather, Emmet, in 1953. After years in storage, Mandy’s husband and friends spent a year restoring the family heirloom, complete with original paint and decals.

“It was a real surprise to my father-in-law, who had no idea the restoration was underway!” recalled Ruff, who will be at the event with the John Deere 50 in all its restored glory and, of course, Halloween candy.
