WAUSAU – Stratford scored nine times in the first three innings and rolled to an 11-5 win over Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game on Thursday.
Stratford scored five times in the second inning and three more times in the third to go up 9-0, and held on from there.
Dawson Moen had two doubles and four RBIs, and Chandler Schmidt had a pair of hits and scored twice for the Tigers (6-1, 4-0 Marawood South).
Schmidt earned the win with two shutout innings of relief. He struck out six and did not allow a hit in his stint on the mound.
Stratford hosts Athens on Friday.
