STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team didn’t have its best shooting game, but did more than enough to advance in the playoffs.

The Tigers pulled out to a nine-point lead by halftime and held on from there, taking down Adams-Friendship 57-42 in a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal Friday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford (23-0) will host Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (14-10) in a D-3 regional final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Stratford High School. GET grabbed a road win at Westby, 46-37, on Friday night.

The Tigers missed 12 of their 23 free throw attempts, were just 4-for-16 from 3-point range, but managed to methodically pull away from Adams-Friendship behind their two-headed monster down low.

Ben Barten scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Vaughn Breit added 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for Stratford. Teddy Redman nailed three 3-pointers and chipped in 10 points for the undefeated Tigers.

Saturday’s game will be livestreamed on OnFocus.news/sports.
