STRATFORD – Stratford survived a defensive battle with Marawood Conference South Division rival Auburndale, prevailing 35-22 in girls basketball action Friday night at Stratford High School.
Stratford held Auburndale to just seven made baskets to end the Apaches’ three-game winning streak.
Stratford is now 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the Marawood South. Auburndale falls to 4-5 and 2-5 in conference play.
Macie Schillinger made six of seven shots and scored 13 points to lead Stratford. The rest of the Tigers were only 8-for-26 from the field, but their defense was stifling in holding down Auburndale.
Natalie Aue and Kaitlyn Kundinger each had six points to lead the Apaches.
Stratford will compete at the Bangor Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27-28, while Auburndale will host its own tournament. The Apaches will play Loyal on Dec. 27 and Neillsville on Dec. 28.
