Spencer (OnFocus) – A scoreless game at the half between new CWC-Large rivals Spencer/Columbus and Stratford saw two defenses flex their muscles in the first half. Stratford’s offense proved to be too much in the second half, however, as the Tigers pulled away for a 28-0 win.
“Hats off to Stratford tonight. They outplayed us,” said Spencer/Columbus Head Coach Jason Gorst.
Midway through the third quarter, Stratford got on the scoreboard when Max Vanderhoof connected with Kainoa Gouveia for a 14 yard touchdown.
Five minutes later, Beau Gross scored from four yards out, his first of two touchdowns.
Gross and Stratford nominated:
OnFocus Athlete of the Week October 4 – 10
OnFocus Team of the Week October 4 – 10
Vanderhool connected with Devin Ulrich for a 22 yard score on the first play of the second quarter, and Gross added a two yard to finish the game’s scoring.
Gross led all rushers with 168 yards on 25 carries.
“Defensively we had a great first half, but we could not get anything going on offense,” Gorst shared. “Their goal line stand was a big moment early in the game.”
Stratford collected 296 yards, while limiting the Rockets to just 85 yards.
The Spencer/Columbus Rockets make the trip to Shiocton on Oct. 16th, you can watch that game live at onfocus.news/sports
