Voting for the area’s top team saw three teams battle it out for the valued rights. Coming away with the title of OnFocus Team of the Week, May 28 – June 3 was Stratford Softball, collecting 268 votes.
Second place was picked up by Pacelli Softball with 168 votes, and Phillips Girls Track and Field earned third place with 161 votes.
- Stratford Softball – The Tigers have taken out two Marawood rivals on their way to state, defeating Edgar 5-0 and then Auburndale 10-8 in the sectional semifinal. The Tigers rolled Spencer in their game of the playoffs, and defeated perennial power Blair-Taylor 4-1 in the sectional final.
- Stevens Point Boys Track and Field – The Panthers tied for first place at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships, with multiple finishes on the podium: Bode Erickson, 1st, 1600 m run; 3rd, 3200 m run; Matthew Eiden, 4th, 400 m dash; Aloysius Franzen, 5th, 1600 m run; 4X800 m relay: 1st, Bruckhart, Ethan Olds, Franzen, Erickson; Tate Bruckhart, 6th, 800 m run; 4X800 m relay: 1st, Bruckhart, Ethan Olds, Franzen, Erickson; Nick Tucscherer, 5th, long jump
- Assumption Softball – The Royals return to state poised to defend their state title. Assumption made short work of its first three opponents, Eleva-Strum(10-0), Port Edwards (11-1) and Columbus Catholic(15-0) and then in the sectional final, the Royals shut out Seneca 5-0.
- Phillips Girls Track and Field – Phillips finished 10 at state, with a pair of relays landing on the podium. The Loggers finished first in the 4X400m relay (Leah Harper, Sarah Knaack, Elsa Schluter, Mataya Eckert) and 3rd in the 4X800m relay( Harper, Knaack, Eckert, Schluter.) Eckert also took 4th in the 400m dash.
- Pacelli Softball – Pacelli is headed to the WIAA State Softball Tournament, with a potent offense and stingy pitching on its side. The Pacelli bats thundered in wins over Rosholt(15-0), Wild Rose(14-1) and Almond-Bancroft(15-1) before a 3-0 over Newman Catholic returned the Cardinals to the State Tournament.
