Stratford(OnFocus) – The Stratford Tigers Football program has long been a power, and this coming season the Tigers return a strong nucleus that looks to build on the winning tradition.

Conference outlook
We didn’t play some of the conference teams last year, so I don’t know a lot about those teams. That being said, Amherst is still the team with a lot of tradition and returning players.
Keys to your success on offense
We need to execute our brand of football. Establish the run that usually opens up our pass game. We have some very skilled players on offense, and looking forward to seeing them get better as the season goes on.
Keys to your success on defense
A lot of teams are running more spread offense, so tackling in the open field has been a priority. Stopping the run on early downs is something that needs to be done, to get teams in predictable situations.
Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?
Every year my managerial staff does a phenomenal job keeping our players hydrated and equipped properly. This season I have three young ladies: Sabrina Schmidt, Emma Mielke, and Alexis Folz. I also get enormous help from Gene Shedlo, he helps out daily at practice and does a great job painting our practice field. Finally, Craig Aschebrenner and his computer staff make my life a lot easier. He takes care of filming, stats, and the sideline replay devices.
What is Stratford football all about? What does it mean to be a member of the Stratford football program?
When I started coaching football in Stratford, tradition of excellence was the norm under Cal Tackes. He molded the program into a state power house. I am only trying to continue what he started. Our players throughout the program have dreams of continuing that incredible success by working extremely hard and having a culture of family.
