Stratford volleyball outlasts Columbus Catholic in nonconference battle

STRATFORD – The Stratford volleyball team pulled away to win the final two games and secure a 3-1 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a nonconference battle Thursday at Stratford High School.

The matchup pitted last year’s Marawood Conference South Division champion Stratford against Clovebelt Conference East Division champ Columbus Catholic.

Mazie Nagel had 21 kills, 12 digs and five serve aces, Jadyn Dahlke had 26 assists, Brooke Peterson added 19 assists, and Lauryn Nagel chipped in 10 kills to lead Stratford.

Kate Turchi had seven kills and 12 digs, Dorci Walker added seven kills, and Annie Baierl had three service aces and 12 digs for the Dons. Brooke Neider added 32 assists and five kills, Kenzie Hansen had six kills, and Jess Jakopin had five blocks and five kills as well for Columbus.

Columbus Catholic will compete at the Nekoosa Invitational on Saturday, while Stratford will be in action again Tuesday when it opens its Marawood Conference South Division schedule at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
