Marshfield – A tight ball game was opened late in the third quarter by a barrage of touchdowns as the Marshfield Tigers opened the season with a win over Oshkosh West, 26-6.
Senior quarterback Ryan Krueger found Preston Wagner to open the scoring in the first half for Marshfield and the Tigers converted a two-point conversion to lead 8-0.
Oshkosh West responded with a long touchdown run as the two teams headed into the locker rooms at halftime with a score of 8-6.
Mason Coffren converted a 32-yard field goal in the third quarter to extend Marshfield’s lead. A Krueger pass to Isaac Meverden in the third quarter and a short touchdown plunge by Krueger in the fourth helped seal the win for the Tigers.
Marshfield looks to carry the momentum into week two as the team hits the road to take on Appleton West on Friday, Aug. 24. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
