Strong Thunderstorms Moving into Central WI

OnFocus – The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued an alert for Central Wisconsin as strong thunderstorms move into the area.

At 8:11 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of Greenwood to 9 miles east of Millston to 10 miles northwest of Elroy. Movement was northeast at 65 mph.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include… Wausau, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Rib Mountain, Mosinee, Abbotsford, Spencer, Whiting and Pittsville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

  • If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
  • Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding.
  • Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
